ABOUT GARRY

Garry Vince built a worldwide reputation for outfitting big Stone rams and other mountain game in the Muskwa river country of northeastern British Columbia.   In this book, “Reaching The Dream”, Vince details his efforts to build a ranch in the wilderness where sportsmen and women came to experience the very best in horses, guides, and wilderness hunting in the venerable old pack train style.

Perhaps less known for this Safaris Club Professional Hunter of the Year and Wild Sheep Foundation President and award winning outfitter, was the amount of international hunting he did for himself.  The Vince family trophy room is filled with mounted species from Africa, Asia and the Americas.

Vince puts the shoe on the other foot and describes the thrills and adventures he experienced with his wife Sandra in the quest for top trophies around the continent of North America and in the game fields far flung over the mountains and veldts around the world.  “It made me a better outfitter to go on those trips,” says Vince about his travels.

Certainly there is something for everyone in this huge volume titled “Reaching the Dream” and within the chapters are items of sage advice from a top bushman and plenty of humour as well as no-nonsense information and stories gleaned from thousands of hours flying in the mountains in all kinds of weather.

The ardent sheep hunter will love to hear the history of the outfitting industry in northeastern BC where Vince plied his trade as an outfitter, one of the first to receive an allotment and steward of the areas where some of the biggest Stone sheep have been taken, including the world record.  Vince put his camps in on the old Bedeaux trail and the record of his hunting from the 1950’s to present is one that will fascinate and inspire all mountain hunters.
